More Snow YIKES!! PeanutButter Coconut Cookies.

More snow can you believe:

What a couple of crazy weeks it has been.
We are lucky so far nothing like the East Coast so glad about that..
All though I do feel sorry for them they are really getting dumped on, but then again that's how it is every year.
We will still get a big one its not over yet..
I just came in from clearing off the back deck third time today. Ill feel it tomorrow my arthritis in my hips will punish me for doing that. But Im used to being active so I try to do as much as I can. It wasn't all that deep. I just trying to keep up with it so it wouldn't be so hard to handle.
I took a few pictures today.

Mrs Cardinal

Mr Hawk

I took a break from visiting Bill because of the snow he didn't want to worry about me driving all the way up their. And he has been down really sick for the past few days their always taking him for x rays.
Its scary..
Please keep him in your prayers he sure can use them.
I just took a break and was going to do the front steps and porch
Our next door neighbor had already done it.
They were just finishing it up.
Joe who usually does it missed a few bucks this time around.
Im going to miss them they have been the best neighbors their house is for sale.
As a matter of fact they all have been just so so nice.
All those years we shoveled snow for the neighbors in Chicago.
Always being a good neighbor is paying off.
Of course wrong neighborhood!
We move out here and the people cant do enough.
What a difference
Not that the neighbors were not caring in Chicago they were,
Out here they really care in a different way..
They are so giving, Its really beautiful.

I haven't shared a recipe for a while, I made these this week.
Steve who is staying with me while Bill is in the hospital doesn't eat chocolate.
I made cookies with out chocolate so he could have one.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears,

The fight song of the Chicago Bears, was written in 1941, "the year after the Bears had shocked the professional football world by defeating the Washington Redskins in the league championship game by the score of 73-0, which remains the largest shutout margin in any game in the history of the NFL," according to an article on Wikipedia, the Internets free encyclopedia. The author, according to the article, is listed as Jerry Downs, which is a pseudonym for Al Hoffman, a member of the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Al Hoffman also wrote the lyrics to "If I Knew You Were Coming, I'd Have Baked a Cake," according to an article on Answer.com. The words follow:

Bear down, Chicago Bears! Make every play clear the way to victory!

Bear down, Chicago Bears! Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T formation.

Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown

You're the pride and joy of Illinois. Chicago Bears, bear down!

Go Bears!

In front of the ambulance their are 3 cars in the row of cars that have the yellow boot on the wheel.

I do want to share a recipe I made yesterday and was so happy how it turned out.

Crockpot Corned Beef

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook Time: 11 hours

Total Time: 11 hours, 25 minutes Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:

6 carrots, cut into chunks

2 onions, chopped

•2-3 lb. corned beef brisket with seasoning packet
12 oz. can beer
2 Tbsp. yellow mustard

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 cup water

Brocolli flowerets

Preparation:

In 4-6 quart crockpot, combine brocolli flowerets, carrots and onions. I didnt use cabbage because I didnt have one the brocolli turned out just fine.
Rinse corned beef under cold running water and pat dry with paper towels. Place in crockpot and sprinkle with contents of seasoning mix. Pour beer over brisket and spread mustard on brisket. In small bowl mix brown sugar with water and pour over brisket. Cover crockpot and cook on High setting for 4 to 5 hours hours.

Bill is in the hospital and has started his treatnments he is really happy to be finally getting the proper treatment for his Leukemia.. Keeping fingers and toes crossed his attitude is great and that's always a good thing. Our family has been super good, jumping right in and wanting to help in any way they can We are blessed. I do feel bad and hope its not interfering to much with their lives they have to have a life as well. I dont want to thank all who I notified for all their kind words and prayers.

Snowing Again!!

Aren't we lucky more snow!!
I don't know if its ME! but it seems like we are getting a lot more snow this winter than usual at this time. I did take the opportunity to snap a few pictures, that maybe you don't see where you live. Bill went out to buy more bird seed, hopefully enough to get us thru the bad winter that hasn't even arrived yet.. Out side the cars are really creeping, they are being extra careful, at least some of them are. The plows are out in full force this is their weather..
 Job Security..

Its been like a blizzard off and on all day.

The Hawk above, I think! was watching the black squirrel that has a peanut in his mouth.
they were both frozen still for a long time.
I don't know if the squirrel got away all I can say is I hope so..
I know all the little birds were terrified as well, hiding in the bushes and trees near by.

The gold circle in the top right is the hawk.
I took all the pictures from inside our house.
Thats all from me for today.

Happy Monday!

Its winter in my home town  we are just hanging in their until its over.  I don't enjoy it all that much but try to make the best of it. The decorations are all down and packed away for another year. Now its time to clean up my computer. All the things I save and do over the year need to be cleared if I dont really need them. I try to do that but dont always finish..
We had a great Christmas and New Year with family and friends we had a great weekend our family came over to visit and we went to Church yesterday and visited with friends by going out to breakfast with them always an enjoyable time..
we sure have been lucky.
I also changed my Blog back ground Im always changing it and every time I just love the newest one until the next time. :)
I also made a great collage in my facebook which I thought was pretty cool.

I know Im big into pictures.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do..

I also added two new recipe links that I really like to my blog.
Their above and to the right check them out.
I will probably add more because for some one who hardly ever cooks I have a lot of them..
I enjoy looking at them if anything.

Doing a test..
This year Im doing the cutting method and then placing in water.
Other years  I let the root dry out removed all the dirt trimmed it up very well top and bottom and re potted in soil that worked..
This winter Im going to try the cutting method and then put in water to see if that works.
Geraniums are one the easiest plants to root from cuttings. If you leave yours in water, you will see tiny roots emerging before you know it. You can also root stem cuttings in a soil-less potting medium. To do this, remove a stem cutting about 3 or 4 leaf joints from the tip. Make sure you remove any potential flower heads so the cuttings direct all of their energy into roots. Remove the bottom leaves and insert the cutting into a growing medium (about 40% perlite and 60% soil-less mix or 50% peat and 50% sand). Keep the growing medium light and airy so the new roots have plenty of room to grow. Geraniums usually take to rooting just fine without dipping the cuttings into a rooting hormone, but if you prefer, dip each stem into a rooting hormone before inserting them into the growing medium. Water the new cuttings and then make a greenhouse for them by covering the pot with a plastic bag. Place the pot in a location where the temperature stays warm throughout the day and doesn't drop down too far at night. After 10 to 20 days, the cuttings should start forming roots. Pinch back the stems as they grow to encourage side shoots.

Here are a couple of geraniums I have in the garage for the winter they dont look pretty but they did and I know they will pick up in spring when I can plant them out side.

I know I can go buy them for a small amount
It gives me something to watch grow for the winter.
Keeps me out of trouble.

Snowing Again.

Snowing Again winter is hard at times;
Oh sure its nice if you can be retired and look out the window and that's right where I am..So I sit back and just enjoy the blizzard going on out their..  I don't enjoy the cold cant tell a lie about that.
I put on the glow lights that's what I call them it puts me in a warm   frame of mind.
I haven't had them on for a couple of years, looks kind of cozy especially January one of my worse winter months. When all the Christmas tree lights are down and packed away.

I havent shared a picture of my Orchid re blooming this year
Im really excited about that.

Tonight were having left over  nothing better than left over chili that has been doctored up with spaghetti and cheddar cheese all mixed together and baked until bubbly, I actually like it better than just a bowl of Chili....Taste so good.
I got the Idea from a friend I used to work with she told me about it and brought some to work and I have been making it ever since..

Day Two

I just came in from another morning of shoveling the snow that's two days in a row now not a lot not even an inch, Iam trying to keep it clear befor it turns to ice. I guess I can still do it even at my age I am lucky.
I just cant seem to get into blogging for the new year. I have to force myself. Hopefully it will come back to me. So I will cut this short.
This one is from yesterday we were doing a test.
I thought my pictures have been turning out blurry so Bill took this one maby its me this one looks pretty sharp. taken from inside looking out.
Today is Elvis birthday and also my friend Janet.
I forgot to send her the birthday card I bought so I will call her.
If I don't she gets up set she is very touchy like that and thinks I don't like her any more.

This morning they are taking down the decorations at our church.
I havent decided weather I will go help or not! our niece and nephew are coming over so maby I will pass for this year. It dont take long to do it their is always a lot of help cant decide if I will or not.HUMMM big decision..
